On a wet and windy March day, the Society formally launched its latest publication, James Davidson's East Devon Church Notes, at the parish church of Ottery St Mary. Edited by Jill Cobley, this volume contains the hitherto unpublished notes written by James Davidson (1793 - 1864) for 110 churches in East Devon. Jill Cobley, introduced by the Society's Hon Editor, Catherine Rider, described her approach to this study and provided some interesting insights about Davidson's work and how it has preserved a valuable record of many churches before they were radically altered by Victorian restorations.

Members will have received their copies of the book, but further copies are available from our publishers, Boydell & Brewer, at £30. Please see their website https://boydellandbrewer.com/search-results/?imprint=devon-and-cornwall-record-society for further information.
