Devon and Exeter Institution - formerly headquarters of the Devon and Cornwall Record Socety. Extensive membership-based research library on Exeter's Cathedral Close, founded in 1813 to promote "the general diffusion of Science, Literature and Art, and for illustrating the Natural and Civil History of the county of Devon and the city of Exeter".

Devon Heritage Centre - Exeter home of Devon archive collections amalgamating the holdings of the former Devon Record Office and Westcountry Studies Library.

Cornwall Record Office - established in 1951, the CRO cares for the largest archive collection in the county, with secure strongrooms holding over four miles of records dating from the 12th century to the present day.

Plymouth and West Devon Record Office - the principal archive repository within Plymouth and the West Devon area. It exists to collect and preserve the historical records (archives) of the area and to promote and encourage their use by all who want to study them.

Exeter Cathedral Archives - contain unique original records documenting the history of the Cathedral and its Dean & Chapter including the buildings, people and former estates across Devon and Cornwall (and Bampton, Oxfordshire).

Devon History Society - organisation founded in 1969 to further the knowledge and study of Devon history, through meetings, the publication of a journal, and promotion of research.

Devon Family History Society - founded in 1976 to promote the study of genealogy and history, especially of Devon families and places, to educate the public therein through advice and instruction, and to encourage preservation and transcription of relevant documents and records. 





The Devonshire Association, founded in 1862, is dedicated to the study and exchange of information and ideas on all matters concerning the county of Devon – in particular, the cultural identity of the county and its distinctiveness – through research, recording and publication.
